Tannay, Day 8 - Saturday 18/8/12
Our first day off in a week! We had a long lie in and got up at 9.30am! After breakfast and filling the boat up with water, we walked to Tannay for some wine tasting.
Tannay was a 2km walk from the boat, but we didn't realise it was all uphill....Up we went in 40 degree heat, the 2km felt like 5km and we almost fell into the Tabac for 2 diet cokes. The barman must have thought we were nuts, as everyone else was drinking whisky, wine and beers, a bit too early for us, but not for the french!
After recovering, we had a walk around the pretty, small village, enjoyed a lovely lunch of scallops and trout in the local hotel restaurant and then we headed to Les Caves Tannaysaises for wine tasting. We tasted 7 wines in total, all were actually really nice, but some better than others. We bought 6 bottles, some for gifts for Louis and Daniel who are both looking afer the garden and swimming pool for us.
We asked for a lift back to the boat with the bottles and they duly obliged, thank heaven for that!
We measured the heat in the sun today and it reached 52 degrees, unbelievable.
As we had already eaten a bigger than normal lunch, we relaxed with snacks on board listening to music.
Lovely relaxing day, apart from the hike!
