Baye - Les Granges (Corbigny), Day 6 - Thursday 16/8/12
We were up sharp at 8am this morning and ready for the green light to allow us access to the 3 tunnels on the next leg of our trip. We were so pleased to be moving again. Crazy Days boat was heading off too at 9am so we both headed off together through the scary tunnels. The first one was the longest and the darkest and needed the most work from our torch, the other 2 were shorter and easier. Amazing scenery, truly unbelievable.
Once through the tunnels, we started our 24 lock descent in 40 degrees heat to Les Granges, having lunch inside lock number 11 of the last of the yummy roast beef and some cooked ham and salad.
We arrived knackered at Les Granges at 4pm, good facilities at 12.50€ cost for an overnight stay including electricity, water and showers, but there was nothing there, so we showered and took a 10€ taxi ride to Corbigny, got some provisions from the supermarket, had a lovely meal in Le Marode restaurant and then a taxi back!
Lovely night, finished off with Monopoly Deal card game outside in the hot air! Then some dominoes inside when it got too dark. Guess who won again.....this is costing me a fortune!
