The weather seems more settled now and we have been enjoying lovely warm days, with some little showers creeping in when the clouds pass by.
We have been making good use of our pool and Jim, although not really a swimmer, can swim perfectly well using his snorkel!
It was also the Fete de l'Escargot (Snail festival) in Digoin last week-end and it finished today at lunchtime, with there also being a Brocante (stalls full of old stuff yer mammy used to have on the mantelpiece) in the centre of the village too. The place was heaving full of people and we arrived at 12 noon for what we thought would be a quick lunch, until we walked up the hill, past thousands of people queueing to get in. An hour later, we got our lunch priced at 10 euros a head of some cold meats and coleslaw to start, followed by a dozen of the most delicious snails smothered in garlic and parsley oil, 3 chunks of bread to dip, an apple pastry and a pot of the french cheese served with cream that we don't like! Greedy Jim went back for a further 12 snails (extra 5€)but couldn't finish them, 'eyes bigger than belly' phrase springs to mind! The entertainment of a guy on the Accordion was 'different' (he definitely wasn't as good as the Alexander Brothers!)and even more entertaining were the French people up dancing, they definitely know how to get into the swing of things.
We bought 2 lovely bottles of wine hand painted with the fete logo and will keep the bottles once they are finished, as they are really pretty.
We have Louis and his wife, and Jean Michel (the man we bought the house from) and his wife, coming for drinks and snacks on Thursday at 4pm, as well as Marie Claude & Alain Chaussin coming on Friday, so the wine should go down well with them then.
