Sunsets & Salads

After a very busy week in Glasgow working, it was nice to head back home to 25 degree heat again and some beautiful hot sunshine. Jim has finished repairing and painting the pool and it looks fab, we have to let the paint dry and cure until next week-end before we fill it with 27000 litres of water.
After a lovely relaxing lunch on Sunday in La Petit Auberge, we chilled out later in the afternoon and enjoyed the most amazing sunset last night on the balcony, which I nearly missed because the camera was out of batteries!
It was exciting also to see how the flowers and vegetables had grown in a short space of time. The flowers in our balcony boxes and especially around the frog pond have burst into life. And our frogs are still as noisy as ever......
We handed in some marrows, tomatoes and carrots to Mai next door who was delighted as her tomatoes and vegetables were not ready yet. She took us around her garden too, and we saw her hutch with live snails.......ready for cooking - not sure if I will eat snails ever again!
Today, we had a lovely lunch on our 'table a deux' on the balcony of delicious mortadella ham, with potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, salad, all picked from the garden. Surprising how things from your own garden always taste better!
After lunch, Louis arrived and picked all our shallots which will remain in the cold cellar in storage and he also picked the rest of our green beans which I need to top and tail and freeze as there are so many of them (He gave me a 10 litre tub full!).
We still have plenty of potatoes, carrots, leeks, peppers, new strawberries and our plum tree has just become ripe with delicious juicy yellow plums, so we will never go hungry. The beetroot, cabbages and cauliflowers have still got a bit to go, but with the way things grow here, it will not be long for them either.
Once we get the pool set up at the week-end, we will post and let you see the before and after pictures.
The weather tomorrow has to be 38 degrees and then Wednesday has to be a bit cloudy with perhaps some rain (saves me watering the flowers and veggies!), then the rest of the week has to be lovely.
More updates to follow at the week-end.
