Porto Antico, Genoa & Portofino - 29th April to 3rd May, 2009

After a very busy week at home, we arrived back in Genoa with our friends Billy & Kath Stewart on 29th April.
The marina staff told us that the weather the week we were at home was crap in Genoa, so we felt a whole lot better and we also brought good weather with us, as it has been absolutely glorious since we arrived back.
We have had a relaxing few days dining out and in and enjoying the delights of Genoa, as well as relaxing in the sunshine on board.
On Saturday, we took the ferry to Portofino (unfortunately the moorings were full due to a Regatta, so we could not sail there on Ginger Grouse). It was one of the hottest days of the year and we soaked up the sunshine and the views on the 1 hour trip to Portofino, stopping at St. Fruotoso on route. We had a lovely light lunch when we arrived at Portofino and then Jim and Billy walked to the Castle whilst Kath and I went shopping. After delicious ice creams later in the day, we watched the Regatta boats coming in and then it was time for the ferry back to Genoa - a magical day.
Genoa is really buzzing this week, with huge superyachts arriving daily, due to there being a charter exhibition on. These yachts are something else, some of them towering above the highest buildings here.
We have a few more days here, relaxing, before heading back home to the UK from Pisa next Wednesday.
