San Stefano Al Mare - Tuesday 3rd March, 2009

What a lovely little fishing village this is, San Stefano Al Mare, our first stop in Italy. The weather has been pleasant today with some hot sunshine and clouds, and after a visit to the Lavereria (Laundrette!), we walked into the village, which is 20 minutes from the marina.
There are lovely little quaint streets full of little restaurants and cafes and on one of the main squares, there is a beautiful chapel.
We had a light lunch in one of the cafes and a stroll around the village, stopping in various bars for a glass of wine and a coffee. The cost of living here seems to be slightly cheaper than in some parts of France, but marina prices are expensive (26€ per night here).
There is a lot of building/renovation work going on around the village and it looks like in years to come, this little village will not be so little any more!
The weather forecast for the next few days seems to be poor, so we may possibly have to sit tight here until a break appears.
