Ciao Savona, Buon Giorno Porto Antico, Genova - Saturday 14th March, 2009

We headed off this morning at 10.15am in perfect flat calm conditions with a slight swell. There was beautiful hot sunshine with a bit of a haze, but good visibility on the water.
We headed NE, dodging pieces of wood, plastic bags, bottles and lobster pots on route! It was lovely helming from the fly bridge and although it was a bit hazy, the sun was still very comfortable.
We arrived at 12 noon at Porto Antico, travelling at a comfortable average of 16 knots, and were met and directed to a berth where we will stay until Monday. There are 5 ports here to choose from in Genova, and we decided on this one, as it was in the heart of the old town. At 30€ per night, it is not a place to linger, but will be perfect for us to take in the Rugby today and tomorrow.
Porto Antico Genova is 44’24’.633N 008’55’.368E and we travelled 23.88nm today. This takes our total mileage to 2191nm and makes Genova our 78th stop.
