Some Like It Hot......Cannes - Friday 20th February, 2009

Today was amazingly warm with wall to wall blue skies and sunshine.
We made an early start and took the little Tourist Train at 10.30am which took us on a History and Croisette tour of Cannes. It took us along the famous La Croisette, where film stars have walked, to Palm Beach, past the famous Hotels such as the Majestic, Carlton and Martinez and then to the old part of Cannes all the way up to the Notre Dame Esperance Church. We got amazing views of the Old Port from the top. This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever been to.
We had a refreshing Monaco Tango beer and Mango Milkshake in Ginger Bar, below the Splendid Hotel. The Bar is very trendy with lime green and orange leather sofas and chairs and superb original paintings of film stars on the walls.
We then spent the rest of the afternoon on GG and had a lovely lunch on the fly bridge listening to music and soaking up the sunshine and Jim even went topless it was so hot!
In the evening, I had the night off cooking - yippee - and it was time to sample one of the many restaurants, and we plumped for Au Poisson Grille overlooking the Port. Well it was full of potential, but just didn't deliver! Not one of the best meals............bordering on the worst yet! Terrible salad full of oil and drenched in vinegar, the fattiest lamb ever, say no more! The rest of the week-end can only get better. More to follow...........
