Au Revoir St. Tropez, Bonjour Cannes - Thursday 19th February, 2009

After a lovely few days in St. Tropez, we headed off in perfect conditions at 12 noon today towards Cannes.
Although the sky was very overcast, the sea was a perfect flat calm with a slight swell from the East. We headed comfortably at 12 knots ENE passing St. Maxime, St. Raphael, Cap Du Dramont and Cap Roux and then into the Vieux Port at Cannes. What an amazing feeling it was coming into the Port. The Motor Yachts here are even bigger than St. Tropez!
We arrived at 2.15pm, radioed in for our Berth number and then ‘squeezed’ ourselves into it ( I didn‘t think we were going to squeeze in, but we did……just). The Port is extremely busy for this time of year and we were glad we booked the berth yesterday. And at 15€ per night, it is not a bad price to pay to berth in the middle of Cannes with everything on your doorstep!
The weather looks quite settled for the next few days, and we are looking forward to exploring Cannes until Sunday/Monday, before heading off again to Nice.
Cannes is 43’43’.939N 007’00’.816E and we travelled a total of 27nm today.
