Nice is a lovely town with many Mega Yachts in the little Port, and luckily for us, it is the Nice Carnival just now, which makes the town more colourful than usual.
We cycled from the Port, around the Bay, to the centre and after strolling around for an hour, we took the little Tourist Train (yet another one!) around the quaint little streets and up to the Chateau where we got amazing views of the Baie des Anges and Nice. Today, although it is hot, is a bit hazy, so not the best of days for clear photography.
We then headed for the Carnival where there were Dancers, Bands, Floats, a huge Big Wheel and hundreds of screaming kids dressed up as Spiderman, Snow White, Ladybirds and Princesses! The atmosphere was excellent and flowers were thrown from the Floats into the crowds who lined the streets.
It was then time for a lemon tea and a pint of Kilkenny back at the Port, in Ma Nolan’s Irish Bar, handily across the street from the berth. They are showing all the Rugby, so guess where we will be on Friday and Saturday to see the next set of Six Nations matches! They also have a Curry Night on a Friday, so a double whammy indeed.
Tomorrow, we plan to go by Bus to Monaco and have a visit to Monte Carlo Casino……..so instead of Monte Carlo or Bust it will be Monte Carlo by Bus!
More updates to follow………
