Port Du Frioul, Ile De Pomegues - Monday 19th & Tuesday 20th January, 2009

What an amazing little Island this is, the dramatic landscape is unbelievable.
On Monday afternoon, we walked to Fort Pomegues at the top of the Island and then around to the south side of the Island and had our packed lunch in somewhat blustery conditions, managing to get back to GG before the rain started. The conditions today were so bad that the Ferry to the mainland stopped from the afternoon onwards.
On Tuesday, the weather was lovely and sunny again. The blustery winds were still around although they had now come around to the NW and it was calm enough for the Ferry to sail again. We cycled to the ruins of Hospital Caroline, on Ile Rattaneau, enjoying the spectacular views of the mainland. This old Hospital is being renovated and should be finished in 2012.
We spent some of our afternoon passage planning for the next part of our trip, to Cassis, a short trip of 14nm SE from here and we hope, fingers crossed, to make this journey on Thursday, weather permitting.
