Happy New Year from The Med. We arrived back here on the 30th from the UK, having spent Xmas at home. It was lovely to see our families and some friends again.
We had a fantastic French ‘Hogmanay’ at the Casino in Cap D’Agde, enjoying an excellent feast of French food with Appetizers of Blinis with Smoked Salmon and Crème Fraiche served with a glass of Kir, Starters of Foie Gras 3 ways (Hot, Cold and Frozen - all amazing), then a Fish Course of Scallops, Chorizo Crisps served with a delicious hot mash. We then had Veal stuffed with Dates, Broccoli and Potato Cake, and a trio of Desserts (Chocolate Fondant, Cherry Ice Cream & Chocolate Cake). The wine and water was unlimited throughout the evening.
During dinner, we were entertained by a very camp Compere, Guy Lamour, and an equally camp Singer Lady Bee, as well as Dancers. Even though most of the talking was in French and we hadn’t a clue what the jokes were about, it was highly entertaining and such good fun.
Just before midnight, we were given a basket full of hats, masks, streamers, hooters & pea shooters (fab to fire at others!) and a glass of champagne and then after the countdown to New Year, the DJ continued into the small hours.
It was great value for 115€ per head and we both enjoyed ourselves very much.

The weather here is a perfect flat calm just now with almost no wind and blue skies, perfect sailing weather. Once Jim gets rid of his heavy cold and provided the weather continues like this, we will be moving on very soon, likely to Port Camargue.
All the best to everyone for 2009.
