Beautifully Sunny & Spectacularly Snowy!! Cap D'Agde - Thursday 8th January, 2009

We went out for a spin on the Med last Saturday, as the weather was perfect for sailing, and our engines needed a bit of a blast!
We dotted about the bay in the Gulf of Lion for 8 miles and the sea was perfectly well behaved, for a change………This is almost the first time since our arrival here at the end of October, that we have been able to get out for a spin. It was a great feeling to be on the sea again. The marina has been quite busy over the past few days, with lots of people running their engines and making the most of the good conditions by taking their boats out.
We went for a lovely walk along the beach on Sunday, enjoying the clear blue skies and sunshine. We got a great picture of a micro light out for the day.
We were spending this week, preparing the boat for moving on……..and then it was all change yesterday with the high winds back and absolutely Baltic conditions, and we knew, according to the sky, that the snow was on its way. At about 5pm, it started, and continued into the night, with the snow lying quickly on the ground and pontoons.
This is the first time it has snowed here in 8 years, according to one of our French neighbours.
The forecast for the next few days is much of the same, cold conditions due to the Northerly wind direction and force 6-8 winds and the inevitable moderate to rough seas, so we will need to sit tight until things settle down before continuing. Fingers crossed this is short lived!
