After filling up with fuel, we headed off this morning at 11.15am, heading for Ile De Porquerolles. It was a perfect day for sailing, a cloudless blue sky and the wind from the NW, force 2/3 and the sea state smooth, with a very slight swell in the right direction!
We went to have a quick look at Les Calanques next to Cassis (fjords) which are very beautiful and then we headed SE, past Ile Les Embiez and Toulon, to the beautiful Island of Porquerolles which forms one of the ‘Islands of Gold’ in the Hyeres group.
We helmed from the fly bridge for the duration of the journey (although we had our fleeces on to keep the cold wind out!), enjoying the perfect conditions and the views were just amazing.
We arrived at Ile De Porquerolles at 2.30pm and berthed stern to on the visitors pontoon, taking the fixed chain from the pontoon up to the bow to secure. The island is really gorgeous with palm trees and a decent sized marina with good facilities. It is 26€ per night here, so even in this low season, prices are much more expensive the further we travel along the coast.
Ile De Porquerolles is 43’00‘.241N 006’12’.059E and we travelled a total of 39nm today. This is our 69th stop since leaving Largs last April, and we have now travelled a grand total of exactly 2000nm!!!!!
We will relax here for a few days and take in the sights, before moving on, provided as usual, the weather conditions allow.
