Who Wants to be a Millionaire.....We Do! - Cap D'Agde, Saturday 22nd November, 2008

We had a lovely night last Sunday at the Casino, with good food, great company, and unfortunately no winners, so we are still slumming it here in Cap D’Agde instead of our dreams of St. Tropez becoming a reality!
During the week, we held our Wednesday Curry night aboard GG with Julie and Martin (their last night here until March). On Tuesday (Monday was a write off for me as I was very hung over!)we cycled in the morning to Intermarche in Agde for ingredients (30 mins cycling each way) and we spent the afternoon making the main course of Traditional Chicken Curry and the Appetisers of Spiced Onions and Raita. Then, on Wednesday morning we finished off by making the Tandoori Salmon starter and Aloo Tikki side dish for the main course. We had a lovely, relaxed evening and we played Who Wants to Be a Millionaire on DVD after dinner with Jim and I winning 2 games out of 3. Now the luck begins……
Last night, after rescuing Jim’s bike out of the marina (he left it on the pontoon temporarily and a gust of wind blew it into the water!) using a grappling anchor which luckily hooked onto the basket 4m below, we went back to the Casino for yet again a lovely meal (great value for money, 3 courses 19€), and as Jim sat at the bar afterwards, I played 20€ on the slot machines. As I did last Sunday, I went to the Ladies and had a look at the machines on route and played the one that caught my eye. Lady luck was on my side. I won the jackpot of 375€, couldn’t believe it, I felt sick! I had to wait until an attendant came over and he presented me with a paper certificate to go and collect my winnings from the Cashier, as well as 2 free drinks vouchers! Not bad for a 50c machine (That is when you wish you had played 3 coins instead of one 50c coin……but that is just the greed talking now!). After a drink to calm me down at the bar (my first since last Sunday!) I took another 20€, chose another machine and came back with 38€, another 18€ profit. That was enough for me, it all went into our wallet and came back with us to GG.
We have decided to go to the Casino every Friday - fools I hear you all say! - night for dinner followed by music and a little bit of gambling and have also booked for Hogmanay there at the Cabaret Spectacle Dinner which is a 7 course meal including wine, followed by Cabaret and champagne at midnight.
The weather here remains sunny, but very windy, with absolutely amazing sunsets. Unfortunately we have not managed to have any short trips out yet on GG. Fingers crossed the wind (Force 6, gusting 8 today) will calm down next week and we may get out next Wednesday, which would be a lovely birthday treat for me.
More news next week…..after I reach the ripe old age of 45!
