Au Revoir Seurre, Bonjour St. Jean de Losne, River Saone - Friday 5th September 2008

We had a lovely, short time in Seurre. We spent yesterday afternoon in the village chilling out in a bar, watching the French horse-racing - no betting, just watching - and we then headed back to GG for a nice dinner on board of Lamb Cutlets in herbed butter, Potato Rosti and Tomato, Onion and Basil salad, followed by our favourite dessert of Ile Flotante. The lamb was amazingly tender, the nicest meat we have managed to find at the butchers since we arrived in France.
Then it was down to some serious domino playing which lasted a good few hours, as we were both so closely matched in points , with me eventually winning at 100 points to 92. It was really good fun.
We set off this morning at 10.30am, heading for our last big sea lock, towards St. Jean de Losne. The weather today is cloudy with hot sunshine in between. Much better than the torrential rain and thunder we had yesterday, at least it is dry, at the moment! The forecast for the rest of the week-end is not so good.
We locked through with another boat easily with the lock being ready for us again. This works great when you radio 10 minutes ahead.
There was not much scenery on route to St. Jean de Losne and we travelled on one engine at 8 knots heading NE.
We arrived at 11.45am and tied up at the H20 Port De Plaisance. There are 3 different marinas in St. Jean de Losne and we chose this one as they have free wi-fi on board.
We will stay here at least a couple of nights and then head in to the Canal de Bourgogne 30km NW through 20 locks to Dijon.
St. Jean de Losne is 47’06’.305N 005’15’.624E and we travelled 9.6nm today.
