Au Revoir Nevers, Bonjour Fleury Sur Loire, Canal Lateral a la Loire - Sunday 10th August 2008

We went back through the 2 locks to exit the marina (these are automatic and you pull a blue cord which is extended from a hanger at the shore side and pulling this makes the lock ready, opens the gates and then once inside and tied up securely, you lift the blue rod inside the lock to start the water flowing.
The weather was hot, hot, hot, with a beautiful blue sky and light fluffy clouds and we headed at 5 knots SE towards Fleury . We did 5 locks today in total, arriving at Fleury S/Loire at 3pm, frazzled in the sunshine. The last lock at Fleury was particularly pretty with beautiful flowers in the garden. The Halte Nautique here is very basic, with a Sandwich Bar beside it serving snack food and a full bar, and it was open when we arrived, even on a Sunday! It is free to stop overnight here, and if you need electricity or water, it is 2€ for each.
Fleury S/Loire is a very small town with a lovely little church, not much else, but it is an ideal lazy Sunday overnight stop for us and we will leave tomorrow morning and travel another 13km to Decize where we will stay a few days.
Fleury S/Loire is 46’50’.168N 003’19’.327E.
