Au Revoir Port De Plaisance, Paris Arsenal, Paris - Wednesday 9th July 2008

We have had a lovely, relaxing time here in the Paris Arsenal basin. The weather has been very pleasant, with a couple of days raining on and off, but overall it has been lovely.
We waved Au Revoir to Martin and Julie from MyTime, as they set off on the next part of their journey towards St. Mammes. We hope to catch up with them at some point in the future, perhaps when all the canals meet at Chalon-sur -Saone, if not before.
We visited the Museum D’Orsay which houses various sculptures by Rodin and exhibitions of paintings by Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Renoir and Whistler, to name but a few, as well as some pieces of Art Deco furniture. It was really interesting and the building itself was stunning.
We went to Sacre Coeur and Montmartre as this is one of our favourite places in Paris, and it might be the last time we will ever see it!
On Saturday night, we had a lovely meal in one of the Asian CafĂ©’s with delicious salt and pepper prawns and Cantonese rice before heading off to Le Crazy Horse show. It was a great show with beautiful exotic topless dancers in different routines all lit wonderfully by coloured lights - we had great 2nd row seats, so you had a great view of their cellulite (just joking - jealousy creeping in!).
I had a couple of days at home in Glasgow, catching up with my mum, and it was lovely to see her, before heading back to Paris on Tuesday. Billy and Kath Stewart joined us also on Tuesday, for a week aboard, and drank a full box of red wine within 2 hours of arriving, with a little help from Jim......so we can see what kind of a week we are going to have!
We will be leaving Paris, on Wednesday 9th July, and heading off towards St. Mammes, still on the River Seine, with various stops on route. After St. Mammes, we will be entering the Canal du Loing. The locks get easier from now on (our friends Martin and Julie texted me to let us know!), so that is a blessing.
