Our friends, Mel & Patsy arrived from Glasgow to stay with us for a week on 20th June. It has been great to have some real conversations for a wee change! We were lucky with the weather and for most of the time, it stayed very warm, with the odd thunderstorm and shower inbetween.
On Thursday, James took them to the local weekly market in Gueugnon where Patsy treated herself to some new french shoes. Everyone relaxed by the pool in the afternoon, swimming and playing table tennis. In the evening, we enjoyed a home made chicken curry and some games of Dominoes.
On Friday, James drove them to Chalon and they went boating on the river and also visited the shops in Chalon. After 'posh' fish and chips on Friday night, we again played some Dominoes and also Uno, and watched England get beaten...yeah!
On Saturday, we all drove to Puligny Montrachet for a wine tasting lunch which was really delicious. We also visited the vineyards and wine workshop. Beans and Toast for supper followed by Dominoes - all getting very competitive now!
On Sunday, we enjoyed Sunday lunch at La Petite Auberge in Marly, then chilled out watching the grand prix with some petanque (strange game!) and some pool volleyball afterwards. Our competitive Dominoes once again at night.
On Monday, we all headed in the afternoon to Vitry en Charollais for some 10 pin bowling and some American pool which was good fun, then popped into McDonalds to carry out some ice cream sundaes for later after a BBQ in the Garden. More Dominoes!
On Tuesday, it was a chill out day, watching Wimbledon and we all went out for a lovely farewell meal to La Fontaine in Chassy and Mel even tentatively tried Frogs Legs.....he almost finished one, with Patsy eating the rest after her snails!
