Restaurant L'Atelier Du Gout Eric Laupin - Friday 24/2/12

We travelled tonight to the little village of Marigny which is about 21 miles from where we are, to sample the cuisine of Eric Laupin.
We were welcomed by Eric Laupin himself (likely only because we were a bit early!) and shown to one of the lovely tables in the dining room. We started with a beautifully presented amouse bouche of mushroom cappucino, then I had delicious foie gras pan fried with figs and crostini, Jim had red mullet which was served in a parmesan wafer 'sandwich' with a 'peach' coloured ice cream (Jim didn't know what it was and wouldn't let me taste it as he said it was too nice to give away!). We then had langoustine tail served with fish stuffed pasta, followed by melt in the mouth charolais fillet of beef, cheeses and then a lemon souffle.
It is a long time since we have had such a heavy meal and we paid the price for it next day! Nevertheless, it was great value for money, and every course was amazing.
