Belle Jessica - Monday 17/10/11

The weather has turned a bit chillier now, and we have decided to close the swimming pool until the spring. I was determined on Sunday to have a dip, but at 21 degrees pool temperature, it was just too cold, even for me! We are still enjoying lovely afternoons where the air temperature reaches 19-21 degrees, but the mornings and evenings, you need your autumn woolies on!
At the week-end, we enjoyed the Rugby - especially on Saturday with the French beating the Welsh as I was quids in having put a bet on half time and full time results, and then we spent our Saturday afternoon steaming off the wallpaper in the bathroom and taking down some of the tiles at the window so that the new windows could be installed easily on Monday, and then the hard work will commence a week later with the bathroom renovation - exciting stuff.
Sunday, we found a new restaurant in Blanzy called Restaurant Le Plessis, overlooking a beautiful lake, and we had a delicious 4 course lunch, courtesy of Paddy Power.....
And today, hallelujah, our window man turned up at 8am (getting us both out of bed!)and started installing the windows. He managed to install every window apart from the french doors in the salon, which he will do tomorrow, and finish off the pvc frames etc., on the rest. What a difference it has already made to the sound and warmth.
We also had a visit from the Vietnamese couple who own the chinese restaurant in Gueugnon where we go every Friday evening, and they brought their new baby Jessica who is now 3 months old and just adorable. Check out the Stewart Tartan shoes she is wearing, which we got for her when she was born. It was hilarious listening to Jim trying to explain the significance about different tartans and names, using the internet and google translate. Classic! It was a lovely afternoon and Mai and her daughter from next door, who are also Vietnamese, came to keep us company too.
