Yet another very hot sunny morning, we cannot believe how lucky we have been this week with the weather and how much we have enjoyed our first real holiday travelling on Ginger Grouse II.
After showering on board, breakfasting (no ducks today!) and taking the canopies down again, we headed out for a walk to explore the small but very pretty La Truchere. What a stunning little village as you can see.
We locked through at 11.30am with help from the Eclusier and then headed at 6-7 knots in a northerly direction re-tracing our steps, through Ormes lock (we radioed ahead and the Eclusier made the lock ready for us - normally they don't answer you, but 10/10 to the Mr. Eclusier at Ormes!) and arrived back at Chalon Sur Saone at 3pm in a sweltering 36 degree heat. Lunch on route of rosette sandwiches, yoghurts and diet cokes on board helped us on the way. We rounded off our perfect break with delicious lamb vindaloo and lobster tail curries in Le Shalimar on Ile St. Laurent and some cocktails in the Beverley Bar.
