En vacances! - Sunday 28/8/11

Our week's holiday started today with me arriving back from Scotland late last night with a good flight and train home, all arriving on time, no hiccups and no thiefs! After 2 weeks away from France, it was lovely to come home and see our lovely garden and house again, I missed it very much.
After 100 lengths of the swimming pool whilst Jim did some shopping in Intermarche (called getting priorities right!)we packed our bags for the boat, and headed off at 12 noon, for lunch first at L'Auberge de Vigny, a short drive away, in the direction of Digoin.
The restaurant is a converted school-house and has been in the Michelin guide since 2003.
We had a nice lunch of - to start an amouse bouche of toast with salmon hummus and radish, followed by starters of scallops, mussels and mixed vegetables with Seranno ham, we then had rump steak Charlolais (which was tasty but not so tender - we are extremely disappointed with the french beef overall and it might be some time before we order steak from a menu again!), then to finish desserts of lemon torte and almond cream fruit crumble. Overall a good meal, but not the best.
After lunch, we headed off to Chalon Sur Saone to our boat, unpacked all our clothes etc., and then headed for some drinks at the pub on Ile St. Laurent. After that, we had a light meal of moules frites and then an early night, looking forward to the start of our boating holiday tomorrow.
