Bourbon Lancy - Holiday Monday 26/9/11

With the warm weather continuing,we headed off this morning to Bourbon Lancy, a 30 minute drive, for a spot of sightseeing and some lunch.
It was such a beautiful drive through the charming little villages of Curdin and Chalmoux.
Bourbon Lancy is a charming little medieval, thermal, market town with gorgeous cobbled streets, lovely gardens and delightful shops (all of which were closed as it was Monday).
We walked to the old part and enjoyed the views of the gate, passed quaint little restaurants and secret gardens, before heading to see the beautiful church and lighting some candles for loved ones.
After a beer (well it was almost midday!), we lunched in La Grignotte, in the heart of the old town and we were lucky we went early as 10 minutes later, the place was full and they were turning them away at the door!
After a lovely lunch, we headed back home to Marly, stopping off to visit Alex and Lorna Clarke in Chalmoux (Alex was one of the workmen who helped paint our facade) on route.
Once home, because it was so hot, we were forced to swim in the pool again, at least it worked off the lunch!
It has been a most enjoyable, relaxing September week-end, just a shame Scotland didn't win at the Rugby, that would have been the icing on the cake.
