On Sunday, we cycled to Villeneuve Les Avignon to the Circus and spent the afternoon in the Big Top watching clowns, lions, acrobats and horses all performing. It was a lovely afternoon out with a difference!
On Monday, we were up early and away on our half day organised tour of Le Pont Du Gard, an amazing Roman Aqueduct, followed by a visit to the village of Orange and its Roman Amphitheatre. We then drove to Chateauneuf du Pape and had a seriously good wine tasting there with about 8 wines! Needless to say, we needed our siesta in the afternoon, after lunch…..
On Tuesday, our last day here :-( we caught up with the boring things in life like washing clothes and had a relaxing day planning which direction we were heading next.
We have decided to take the River Rhone to Fourques and then go West along the Petit Rhone to St. Giles and then head South West onto the Canal du Rhone a Sete to our next stop Aigues Mortes, an apparently beautiful walled town. After Aigues Mortes, we will head towards Sete, spend some time there and then we will head into the Med towards Cap D’Agde, likely at the end of October, to meet up with our friends Julie and Martin on MyTime, who are already there.
After a most enjoyable week here in Avignon, our journey continues at 9am tomorrow morning!
