Au Revoir Fleury Sur Ouche, Bonjour Dijon encore! - Sunday 21st September, 2008

Sunday we were up and away at 10.30am, in a bitter wind, back through the 13 locks and heading for lunch at mid-day at Le Petit Guingette which we had booked on the way up, a Restaurant which is part of one of the Ecluses. We had a wonderful meal, courtesty of Charlie & Elaine, of Salad starters, followed by Hot Rock Charolais Beef served with the best Morrel Mushroom sauce you have ever tasted and skinny chips, washed down with a smashing bottle of Macon Rose. We were given ladybird bibs to eat our meal, it was such a laugh! We were all stuffed full, but managed desserts (just!) of Citron Sorbet with Vodka (E), Vanilla Ice Cream with Whisky (J&C) and Vanilla Ice Cream with hot chocolate sauce and cream (I). Magnifique. Guess who is the diabetic!
We continued back to Dijon, with Elaine cycling all the way (12km) to work off her lunch, meeting us at each lock, and we arrived at 4.45pm . What a fabulous 2 days on the Canal de Bourgogne. Charlie was on the fly bridge serenading us all with Jim’s guitar and also playing the Irish whistle on the bow in the pulpit - superb! I think the lock-keepers thought we were all mad…….!
After such a huge lunch, we relaxed on board with some wine, drinks, nibbles and a 4 hour game of Uno which was such a hoot, with Jim being the eventual winner!
GG will be here in Dijon until 28th September, as Jim is off home on Tuesday and we also say Au Revoir to Charlie and Elaine then too. Me and my new sky digi-box will enjoy a few days relaxing here in Dijon, detoxing!
