Dompierre Sur Bresbe was a nice little village with very pretty flowers, shops & bars. As it was Sunday, nearly everything was closed so we spent a lovely afternoon doing a bit of cycling. We headed 14km round trip to Diou, a tiny village with only a few shops and a bar - which was open for a refreshing Perrier.
We had a couple of drinks on our return in the local bar and then headed back to GG for the rest of Sunday to watch the Olympics, have dinner aboard and then relax with a DVD.
On Monday morning, we were up at 8am, showered and away at 9am, heading for our first lock, heading East on route to Digoin.
It was a beautiful morning, azure blue skies, hot sunshine and not a cloud in sight. This makes up for the last few showery days!
Perfect canal cruising weather with the scenery on route very beautiful and it got better as we headed on towards Digoin. We stopped at Couranges for lunch under the shade of the trees.. As it was Monday lunchtime, everything was still closed, but the little village was extremely pretty.
We did 6 locks in total today, travelling a total of 16.26nm with the last lock just under 4m rise, which took us on to the Pont Du Canal bridge and across the River, into Digoin. First impressions are very promising.
We tied up in the Port de Plaisance owned by Les Canalous hire boat company at 3pm, frazzled by the sunshine. This has been one of the hottest days ever, since we came to France.
Digoin is the last stop on the Canal lateral a la Loire and is 46’28’.945N 003’59’.270E.
We will do our usual exploring for a few days before moving on to the start of the Canal Du Centre.
