Our Country and Western Evening on Thursday night was great, what a laugh we had, the music was very entertaining and the people there even more entertaining……..We danced throughout the evening and Julie fell on her bum at one point, which was hilarious. The cycle ride back to the boats was comical as we had no lights on the bikes and the event finished at midnight so it was pitch dark. Just as well the street lighting was good!
Due to the rain yesterday, we stayed an extra night in Decize, spending a nice night aboard My Time with Julie and Martin, playing Shut the Box and Uno - I was sensible and drank diet coke all night, and I will let you all guess whether the rest of the alcoholics were drinking or not!
We set off this morning at 10am, heading South towards Dompierre Sur Bresbe.
We did 10 locks in total travelling 40km at 5 knots, arriving at Dompierre Sur Bresbe at 6pm - a long day!
The weather was a bit cloudy with sunshine breaking through and the scenery on route was very pleasant. We met Pierre the Donkey at our lunch time stop who didn’t like cucumber, didn’t like shallots, but third time lucky, loved bread. So after we had our lunch of bacon and eggs (to soak up Jim’s hangover), Jim gave Pierre his lunch!
After berthing, we went for a well deserved beer in the local tabac, where they had the most beautiful ginger kitten who happily played in and out of its box,. We then had dinner of home made mince and tatties on board, followed by tarte tatin.
We will cycle and explore Dompierre Sur Bresbe for the next couple of days, before heading to Digoin, our next major stop at the start of next week. Digoin will be the last stop on the Canal Lateral a la Loire, once we move on from there, it will be on to the Canal Du Centre.
