Au Revoir Moret Sur Loing, Bonjour Nemours, Canal De Loing - Friday 18th July 2008

We left Moret Sur Loing at 11am this morning and headed back to St. Mammes to fuel up before heading into the Canal De Loing locks. Unfortunately, a huge peniche got to the fuelling point before us, so we had to wait almost an hour for him to fuel up.
The weather again was incredibly hot with fabulous blue skies and light clouds.
We went through the first lock at 1pm (the locks are closed between 12 noon and 1pm for lunch) which was relatively easy.
The Canal is absolutely beautiful, tree lined on both sides. At the second lock, there was a yacht in front of us, so we did the remaining 6 locks with them right up to Nemours, where we called it a day at 5pm.
We travelled at 4 knots (maximum canal speed) and covered 11 nautical miles in 4 hours, including 7 locks.

Nemours is a very pretty little village, we tied up just past the last lock, ideal for a peaceful overnight stop, with a little bar within walking distance and the village within cycling distance.
Nemours is 48’14’.249N 002’41’.500E.
