We have had a lovely few days here in Howth, Co. Dublin. We have been cycling every day and went to see WB Yeats cottage (pictured) on the Cliff Road, with spectacular views of the Irish Eye (also pictured).
The seafood restaurants around the Marina are in abundance and we had difficulty choosing which one to go to on Friday night, for Dinner, eventually choosing King Sitric on East Pier. The fish is locally caught and served in a stunning setting overlooking the Bay.
On Saturday afternoon we visited the local Ye Olde Hurdy Gurdy Vintage Radio Museum which was fascinating (Billy Stewart, you would have been in your element here!) and in the evening, we enjoyed the Irish Dancing and Traditional Irish Folk Music at the Abbey Tavern, which was first class, before leaving on Sunday at 3.45pm for Arklow.
Arklow is 52’47’.74N 006’08’.71W
The trip to Arklow was perfect with a very light N/NE Force 2-3, and smooth/slight seas. We arrived at 5.45pm, travelling at a steady 22 knots, and secured ourselves to the Visitors pontoon (pictured). There are lovely waterside apartments on the riverside, next to the Marina, as well as the Bridgewater Shopping Complex which houses a Cineplex. The village is approx. half a mile away with plenty of bars and shops.
We will be leaving here on Friday, heading for our next port of call, Milford Haven, South Wales.
