Medina Madness in Marvellous Marrakech - Friday 10-17/2/12

We have just spent a marvellous week in Marrakech with sun-filled days having average temperatures of 25 degrees. The nights were quite nippy and we were grateful we had packed our heavy jackets. What a lovely change to the -12 temperatures we were having in France when we left.
The Riad that Jim had booked (this was my present from Pere Noel) was just perfect, traditional Moroccan interior, very intimate with only 10 rooms and a great rooftop to sunbathe on. Monsef and Yassine, the 2 main guys who looked after us, were amazing. They were so helpful and couldn't do enough for you. And, to top it all, we were literally 2 minutes walk from the main square, Jemma El Fna. We were invited to treat the house as our own, what a lovely way to welcome guests.
We spent the week sightseeting, relaxing in the sun, bartering in the souks, chilling out on horse driven carriages, and enjoying the most wonderful food. We had pre-booked a day at Maison MK Cook School which was one of the highlights where we spent the morning working with Chef Omar in his kitchen, cooking Moroccan salads, bread that we baked in the communal oven, and fish and chicken tagines. Then we got to eat it all on the rooftop in the sun......superb!
We'll be back.......that is a definite.
