Phew, what an exhausting week it has been back in Scotland. Jim was run ragged with doctors, dentist and hospital appointments and getting the car mot'd and me with work and visiting mum, but we both managed to get some time to ourselves and went to the cinema on Thursday night to see Tintin (in English this time!). It was a welcome start to a relaxing week-end on Friday night with a lovely overnight stay with our friends Kath and Billy in Prestwick. Kath cooked a beautiful 'french' meal for us of black pudding with poached egg and pea puree followed by Beef Bourgignon, creme caramel and then a delicious cheese board. It was so lovely to see them both again (sorry guys, we forgot to get a piccy for the blog!).
We then headed for Saturday lunch to Elaine and Charlie's, in Largs with Bob and Barbara and Karen all there too. It was great to see them all again and catch up. Elaine made a delicious lunch for everyone of Minestrone Soup, Spaghetti Vongole, Pear Tart and another fine, delicious cheese board, and the chat was hilarious.
We were so stuffed, we needed a lie down when we got back to Paisley and Jim was out for the count by 8.30pm! Perhaps it was the X-Factor that bored him to sleep!
We headed back home to France on Sunday night from Glasgow as the new winter flight timetables mean no Saturday flights, and had a nice overnight stay in Paris and even managed a couple of cocktails in Le Chat Bossu close to the hotel. The bar was still very busy at 10pm with people pouring through the door for dinner.
After getting our heads down, we headed off after breakfast to the Gare de Lyon for the train to Le Creusot and home sweet home for 12 noon. Nice to be back. Jim has already finished grouting the floor of the bathroom this afternoon and we also managed to pack the Wii into our hand luggage, so we will get this set up on the huge tv and I can feel a Super Mario Kart challenge coming on.......for money of course!
