That is a week now Jim, Alex and his father Nigel, have been working on the bathroom , and a week with no shower! Washing in the sink is just not quite the same......although I think Jim enjoyed washing and rinsing my hair for me, he said it took him back to his days as a junior in the hairdressers! There are times I wish I were bald, and last week has been one of them!
Anyway, it has been a busy week with Jim aka Baldy the Builder pulling the tiles off the walls, removing the old bidet, sink and iron bath, to prepare for Alex doing the plastering. Alex also made a wooden frame for the false wall that is being installed to support the sink and he levelled/concreted the floor to accommodate the shower receiver flush to the floor, and Nigel started doing the plumbing. Jim spent the whole week-end tiling some of the walls and floor area at the shower, so that Nigel could finish off the plumbing today! Here are some before, during and now pictures, to give you an idea of the amount of work involved. Jim reckons there is another 2 weeks work (we still have the feature pebble wall to do and also are creating an alcove with glass shelving where the cupboard used to be, on top of everything else still to be done), but this week should break the back of it and then once we are back from Glasgow, we can hopefully finish it off before we head to America for our week's holiday on the 18th. Well done guys, Bon Travail! Louis is going to cut the steel pipes and fit our towel radiator tomorrow! And.....we are both now totally clean again, yipee!
