We had a fabulous meal last night on Ile St. Laurent in the Restaurant Le Clown Gourmand, which is recommended in the Gault Millaud 2010 Guide. As the name suggests, the interior was multi-coloured, almost circus like, with Clown pictures, ornaments and puppets decorating the walls and surfaces.
We enjoyed an amuse bouche of delicious sweet and sour king prawns and then I had delicious pan fried foie gras (oh the poor geese!) which was served with a hot brioche, pureed pears and fresh figs. Jim had tandoori king prawns on chutney which was equally delicious. Our main courses of Scallops with mixed mushrooms in hazelnut oil served with a strange but yummy cake like thingy, and Sticky Pork Loin with Raspberry rice and sushi, were both out of this world. The presentation was amazing and the whole meal, washed down with a lovely bottle of Givry wine was first class. We declined desserts as we didn’t want to spoil our tastebuds, so settled for the bill which came in a tiny orange watering can with 2 orange sweeties.
You have to hand it to the French - when they get it right, they really surpass themselves.
Yum Yum.
After dinner, we settled down on board with a DVD and then bed.
