Au Revoir Chatillon Coligny, Bonjour Rogny Les 7 Ecluses, Canal De Briare - Friday 25th July 2008

We really enjoyed our 2 days at Chatillon Coligny. The village is very quaint with cobbled streets and good shops and restaurants. There is no charge here for mooring - couldn’t believe it! Electricity too, no wonder boats hang around here a bit longer!
We ate out (again!) at the most beautiful ivy clad restaurant called Le Coligny that was recommended to us by Martin and Julie from My Time.
The food was absolutely superb - Starters of Mixed Seafood Mille Feuille, Mains of Entrecote Steak with herbed potatoes & Veg., Dessert of the most wonderful, best we have ever tasted, Apple Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream - the pastry was as light as a feather - a delight! Coffee and a Cognac to end. Needless to say we needed a lie down afterwards…….
We left at 9.45am this morning in lovely weather, with a bit of cloud coverage, heading towards Rogny through another 6 locks, only 5.34nm. All locks were manned and the lock-keepers dropped a pole or hook to you to take your lines - magic!
Beautiful canal scenery yet again, with one lock in particular having the most beautiful garden.
We arrived at Rogny at 12.45pm, and tied up alongside. Plenty of spaces, phew - we thought it was going to be busy, as there is a huge event tomorrow night here, with balloons, fireworks and entertainment, which is our main reason for stopping here!
We will stay here until Sunday or Monday, and then move on to Briare.
Rogny is 47’44’.780N 002’52’855E.
