We have enjoyed our short stay here at Milford Haven and loved the company of Taffy and his Taffettes who joined us each evening for supper !
The Marina is set in beautiful countryside, and obviously much loved by the local yachtsmen. There is a cycle track running alongside the River with stunning scenery and we enjoyed our cycle for Sunday lunch 4 miles away in Johnston, a bargain at £5 per head!
We set off at 12.45pm on Monday, heading South to Padstow, arriving at 5.45pm. Padstow is only accessible +/- 2 hours High Water due to it extensively drying out. To start with the sea was very lively, Force 5 from SE and we were in two minds whether to continue. After a chat we decided to bulldoze our way and it was the right decision as the sea improved the further South we got, eventually decreasing to a Force 3, which was just perfect. We managed a comfortable 20 knots for most of the trip.
Padstow is a beautiful fishing village built around the Harbour. It is home to the famous chef Rick Stein who has 3 restaurants/cafes here as well as a shop/deli and a cookery school.
We were lucky to get a last minute booking in his Seafood Restaurant on Monday night and had the most incredible meal from the Tasting Menu. This definitely goes into our Top 5, so if you are ever in Padstow, this is a MUST!
Padstow is 50’32’.51N 04’56’.17W.
We plan to relax here until Friday and then move on to our next Port of Call, Penzance.
