Work started on Monday on the facade of the house and the guttering. We have 2 delightful guys, Bert who is Belgian and Alex who is English who both live here in France doing the work for us through Bert's company Sarl Faber. The guttering has already been repaired, and also the rendering on the chimney and they are now currently starting repairing and painting the facade in a lovely 'Rose d'Orange' colour that we chose. The picture shows Bert working which is very unusual, he normally pisses off and leaves it to Alex, and when Alex is not drinking coke, he is normally the one doing a bit of work! The wood has also been re-varnished under the roof.
The weather here has been extremely hot 25-30 degrees, really high for the month of May and a hose pipe ban has been put into force. Apparently if you are caught, you are handcuffed and taken to jail! Today, it is a bit cooler and there may be some rain later.
Our little Froggies, Freddie and Freda have been decanted into a little waste water pool from the main pool, which has been completely drained and all the sludge removed. Louis is going to repair the cracks with cement and then we will be de-greasing it all, before starting the job of painting it and installing a pump/skimmer etc. Louis is also nearly finished preparing the little pond to re-home Freddie and Freda, more updates to follow on that one when they move into their new 'pad'!
I took James to Le Creusot this morning at the ungodly hour of 6am to get the 6.54am TGV to Paris, CDG Airport. He is now there awaiting his flight home to Glasgow to attend Malcolm McLean's funeral on Saturday. James will be back on 1st June, along with our 2 friends, Billy & Kath Stewart, who are going to stay with us for a while, since the weather in the UK is so crap and they cannot get out boating on their boat Sahona. Their room is ready and waiting for as long as they want it!
More updates to follows.....
